My work is about the story of La Llorona, the weeping woman, and her two unnamed children. The story is about how she drowned her children in the river in their small town in Mexico. I have made all three of the characters in sculpture form. The two children are made of copper and aluminum wire, while the mother is made out of clay. On the inside of La Llorona I started with newsprint paper and formed it to look like her figure and then I covered it with clay. During my process, I learned that La Llorona’s name is Maria and she was happily married with children, but then she started to feel depressed about her life and how she looked. Then one day she drowned her children in the river and felt like she did the wrong thing so she drowned with them, but she regrets it to this day. The reason I made this project is so people can know why La Llorona killed her children and what really happened to all of them.
